Digital Storytelling:
Definitely a concept which I use a lot in my classes and the students definitely enjoy the process as they have an end result to look at and appreciate.
Movie maker is one which are most familiar with. For our drug unit students need to create an advertisement aimed at drug use and its effects. Its a long process with research, script writing, filming and editing. The quality over the years has been fantastic and on due date the class loves looking at everyones creation. Its a program which is student centred and opens up many possibilities for creation.
Animato is something I have used but not with my students, very much familiar with movie maker and now IMovie as our junior students have IPads.
Podcasts are something which have only used with my senior students as is heavily reliant on finding the correct one to suit students needs. Having looked at the list of educational podcasts it opens up possibilities to use in the future so found that resource very handy. I guess the beauty is its really convenient as once you sign up you continually get the feed so for an ongoing unit perhaps it could be useful. Very easily portable too which is a big plus.

Module 3
Google Docs
Was first introduced to google docs last year and since then have never looked back. Our faculty resources are all over onto Drive which enables collaboration on tasks like never before. Compatibility was a bit of an issue especially in regards to tables and pictures when transferring documents across but once done has been really beneficial.
In a sport sense, every friday we have our weekly interschool sport competition. In the past would have to write down results and then email to the other school coordinators for collation, a lengthy process. Now with google docs we have one document for the entire competition which can be automatically updated by any of the coordinators immediately. We always have evidence of previous weeks if needed and so on, a great tool.
Editing and sharing rights are easily controlled throughout the set up process, and people can be added along the way also.
In the classroom it is fantastic for group tasks where collaboration and research is required. Teachers have great power as we are able to view documents to make sure on task, can even see who has edited the document and when.
Our PDHPE registers are done on google forms which enables the coordinator to easily collate the information as it is all done for him.

Module 2
Blogging
Something which i find can be both a waste of time or a fantastic communication and discussion tool when done properly. Have had both experiences over the years.
Our school has an annual Central Australia Trip for students interested. We used to do a journal along the way which was written into a book and everyone would take turns. Now we have also included a blog site so parents at home can get instant (depending on where we are) news and updates on all the exciting adventures we have been on. All students have the access to the site and can add in any personal stories etc.
I found the brilliant blogs section really interesting to see how other teachers utilise this form of technology as am always after new ideas.
Have been on twitter for a number of years now personally but have not used it in an educational way with students, something which am open to.
Particularly liked the Apps for Education as there are many which have not explored yet, our yrs 7 and 8's have Ipads so definitely will be looking into apps a little more.

Module 1
Hi, my name is Grant Kennedy and am a Pe Teacher and Sports Coordinator at St John Bosco College Engadine. Am very interested in technology in the class room and always looking for further ways to engage students. Did the Web 2 course around 5 years ago so keen to trial new technologies that are now available.
Am quite familiar with a few of the google apps as have used Drive for a while now for all my documents. With the use of teacher dashboard all the google docs can be utilised in such a creative and interactive way, with collaboration something our department is big on. The functions available once signed in with google accounts are amazing, makes filing easier, communication and organisation enhanced with the multiple calenders available in one.
Looking froward to trialling a number of apps.
